The Chambers House Museum in Beaumont

Contributor: Cindy May

The Chambers House Museum in Beaumont, Texas is a wonderful place to visit with the whole family.

- The Chambers House Museum was originally constructed in 1892 and has been restored to its original appearance during this time period. It features many pieces of furniture that were used by local residents and are still in use today, as well as other furnishings from the late 1800s.

- Visitors can tour through six rooms where they will see what it would have been like when families lived there back at that time! They’ll find out how people cooked their meals or warmed themselves up on a cold winter day with heaters made for burning coal or wood; they’ll learn about child labor, motherhood issues such as breastfeeding, and women working outside the home.

Some of the best things to explore are the five acres of land with fruit trees, gardens and an old-fashioned herb garden.

The museum also features a gift shop where visitors can find souvenirs from Beaumont or Texas in general. They’ll see many different items like postcards, toys that represent what children played with back then, clothing styles for men and women as well as books about life at this time period!

Some of the most interesting things are the three buildings that represent a late-19th century country store, 1900s Blacksmith shop and a 1920s general store.

It’s an interesting place to visit with kids as it is thoughtfully designed for children of all ages!

Here visitors can see working water pumps, do some old fashioned shopping and learn about life back in time.
